What is the Canadian Ski Patrol

The Canadian Ski Patrol System (CSPS) is a non-profit organization spread all across Canada, with a mandate to promote skier and boarder safety and awareness along with first aid services.

Who can join the CSPS

To be a ski patroller you must be 18 years old.  But the CSPS also offers an Early Entry Ski Patrol program for those 16 years or older (students check with your guidance counsellor for high school credit info).

Can I patrol on my snowboard

When we say ski patrol that is short form for any type of ski bum.  Whether you board, ski, blade, or telemark, you are always welcome to use your preferred choice of equipment.   Just remember we promote safety and need all patrollers to demonstrate it.

What kind of skier or snowboarder do I need to be

To be a ski patroller, the level of your skills is only an obstacle in your own mind.  We are here to teach you proper technique and use of the equipment, and you’ll have lots of opportunities to practice and improve while patrolling on the hill.  We don’t expect you to be a pro before taking the course.  Your determination and persistence is all that is required to become a quality patroller.

I want to join but I'm uncomfortable with accident situations.  Is that a problem

Although most incidents are relatively minor, you will be trained to manage more complex accident situations with skill and confidence.  And we work as a team, so patrollers work together to provide first aid services.
